No hay development team oficial por parte de Nullsoft\AOL pero...
DrO is a 3rd-party dev, not employed by Nullsoft. However, his JTFE plugin (http://daz.ne1.net/jtfe.html) is bundled with Winamp 5.xx releases. The dedication of 3rd-party devs like DrO, Shaneh, and others are what will always keep Winamp alive and well.

Check out some of the plugins in DrO's sig above as well as at his site (http://daz.ne1.net/).

Hmmm...
I used too love Winamp for its skins and just the ease of making playlists and keeping music well filed. Alas, it doesn't support readily 5.1 or better surround sound and I'm too lazy too find a third party piece of add on software too make it better. ;) When they get around too adding the surround sound, I think I will go back too them because I truly do hate Media Player..

i have the latest winamp , and it has a small splash screen wich says winam 5.1 surroud edition, checked itand it works!

Winamp 5.2 has been around for quite some time, I wasn't aware of this but as you can check in their homepage (http://www.winamp.com/), there are a lot of new and tasty looking features (http://www.winamp.com/player/version_history.php) for their users.

Apparently since now it's a somewhat independent programming group that develops this software they are aiming higher than his predecesors, the feature set somewhat reminds me of a young foobar2000. Wich is by the way still my preferred audio player.

Same as Omega, I've used winamp for a long long time...

I love the Media Library, regardless that Foobar have some similar features that I've noticed that are even better like the mass tagger and stuff like that.

I'm so used to winamp, it's hard to me to think in anything else.

Nowadays I use it as a choice against iTunes to set my iPod full of music.

The ml_ipod plugin is much better than deal with that piece of shit...

Even better that the new support for mobile devices that was bundled with 5.2*
