Rebelcon 2006: Convencion de Star Wars - 8, 9 y 10 de Sep

Como todos ustedes saben (y los que no, pos enterense) soy un ferviente y desesperado admirador y seguidor de la maravillosa saga de George Lucas: Star Wars.

Por lo que me he vuelto a involucrar en la organizacion y participacion en una proxima convencion a la cual tengo el gusto de invitar a todos los presentes.

El desmadrito sera los proximos 8, 9 y 10 de septiembre en el Centro de Convenciones del Parque Naucalli, ubicado sobre el Periferico justo frente a las Torres de Satelite.

Habra grandes sorpresas, muchos expositores llenos de sensualisimos productos y un galante ewok atendiendolos como Maestro de Ceremonias y traductor simultaneo.

Ya estan confirmadas las visitas del Sr. Ray Park (Darth Maul) y Zacariah Jensen (Kit Fisto, jedi de piel verde escamosa con tentaculos como rastas en la cabeza y ojos negros que aparece en Clone Wars de CN y Episodio III) entre otros.

Amenazan con venir tambien Daniel Logan (Boba Fett niño en Episodio II) y Irving Kershner (Director de "El Imperio Contrataca).

Si es que les gusta, interesa o quieren saber mas sobre toda esta maravillosa magia intergalactica NO SE LO PUEDEN PERDER!!!!

El sabado nos ponemos de acuerdo para tal efecto, hay de dos sopas:

1. Estoy reclutando gente para que vayan de "voluntarios" a echar la mano con la logistica del evento (filas, autografos, traduccion simultanea, atencion a expositores y apoyo en mi trabajo con lo de ser MC, etc) Por lo que estas invitado del mismo modo a pertenecer a este selecto grupo de trabajo y ver de que modo podrias empalmar tus fines didacticos en esta situacion)

2. Si lo que quieres es grabar tipo prensa, podriamos sacarte un pase para este tipo de asistentes si es que tienes manera (derecha o chueca) de demostrar que lo eres.

De todos modos dame chance de ver como me va este martes en la junta que tenemos el equipo de organizacion del evento a ver si te saco un gafete de algun tipo que te permita entrar sin problemas, tratando en todo momento de evitarte la molestia de tener que vaciar tus bolsillos que estan dedicados a la compra de articulos perecederos que se ingieren y beben.

I hope you bought me a ticket too this Star Wars Convention Log... If you didn't invite the Glorious and Magnificient Hutt then you and I can no longer be friends.. My entourage will be ready too be picked up from Australia on the 5th of September and flown too Mexicasa land.. I expect 5 star hotel and the best Mezcal you have too offer.. Well... I've come to give u a chronicle of what happened this weekend at the convention:

In just a few lines I'll say that the convention was terrible (as usually gets when this organization team try to make one).

First of all it was scheduled for friday, saturday and sunday but they cancelled friday because there was not enough money for the rent of the first day and the expositors were pretty pissed off bout this. Of course they did that because the publicity was pretty poor.

It happent something really funny... I not pretty sure who did this, but some asshole in a TV show said that George Lucas was coming for the convention, so a lot of people came asking for him. (And incredibly that didn't even work to bring more people to the event).

There was a lot of things to buy and pretty cheap ForceFX Master Replicas of all kind of Lightsabers, but I had not money enough to buy the Mace Windu's one, the expositors didnt want to negotiate with free autographs as they usually do.

There were a lot of visitors (not enough to make it a good busissness though) and I have to say modestly that my work as MC was great: Chreering up the people, making enterviews with expositors and special guests, simultaneous translation for the conferences (I had some problems with the New Zeelandees accent)

Ray Park's conference was great. He made all these kung-fu forms, jumps and moves that made him famous as Darth Maul, he even used a fake lightsaber as a bo staff making all the people just crazy.

Zach Jensen's was interesting but he accepted that becoming a jedi it was just a coincidence and he's happy cause thats making him famous (and rich). xD

Daniel Logan's was pretty good, he's a great guy and he made all the crowd laugh a lot with his fun and joy.

We have now an authorized "501st Legion" branch so we had a lot of Troopers (Storm, Clones and Sand), Tusken Raiders, Imperial Guards and a Darth Vader with fine and great costumes made with the original patterns from Lucasfilm. They were like 20 guys. (At last, some good Cosplayers!)

And well, besides it was a poor and terible convention I'm telling you my personal impressions...

I had so much fun hangin round with all the special guests, specially with Daniel, Ray and their manager. That was my main task: To be sure that they have phun all over their visit and we made it.

Since friday we met up to take them to buy a lot of bootlegs and piracy stuff. We were downtown where we have this Piracy Kingdom called Meave Plaza and the market of illegal stuff over there.

We broke ice quite quickly and in notime we were getting along as if we had met for a long time, shouting, laughing, and bothering each other with confidence.

We get along much better with Daniel cause he is just 20 years, desperate for party and just as he said "mexican women".

We had a great party at a club called "La Jima" on saturday and when the convention finished he invited us a great dinner at the hotel with beer and a lot of Tequila shots.

I've been working (not working at all, I dont get profit from it) as a host for special guest since the first convention back at 2000, but we never had all this fun with someone as we had this time.

You all missed it, not the convention but to meet these great guys.

Hope they will return for october, cause we are having another and much better convention at WTC.
