Well, just finished playing the single map demo of the new Sierra city builder game 'Caesar IV'. I love my city building games and have all the previous Sierra City-Builders...
Graphically it will take me a while too get used too. It does look good, shiney and new but some things are just a little too mal-shaped. At least they reduced the size of the Colloseums so that they weren't monolithic structures.
Like most of the city-builders, this one isn't difficult as long as you have some basic stratergy in your head. The diagnal roads and buildings adds a completely new and useful element too the design of ones cities that none of the previous games ever had. It also seems that they have learnt that walkers were a pain in the ass and have given them the flick and introduced a more radial effect. So instead of having great lengths of roads that led too dead ends, intersections became increasingly vital.
I believe that the demo nerfed the animations and sound dramatically or at least I hope it did because there was very very little of that involved. Then again, I really don't listern all that much too ingame music so it really doesn't bother me either way.
I look forward too late September so I can pick this little goody up and add it too the collection. It outshines Sid Meiers Civ:Rome by a major long shot. That game was a dead fish compared too even this simplistic demo. If you are interested in city-builders than this will become a must have just because it is the path that city-builders will all go down.
I rate it about a 7/10. Then again, I am bias too these sorts of games... Meh, enough said I think.. ¬¬ ¬¬
