Smartftp es uno de los mejores clientes de FTP (file transfer protocol) que hay en la actualidad. Sin tomar en cuenta un par de "nag screens" que solo aparecen al iniciar el programa e invitan a comprar una licencia pasando los 30 dias de uso, el programa es completamente gratuito para uso no-comercial. Tiene practicamente todas las funciones que pueden esperar y unas más. Una de las mejores es su sistema de "cola", que permite encolar descargas y uploads usando varias conexiones al mismo tiempo (si el servidor lo soporta) lo cual es bastante útil si publican continuamente en la web. En la reciente version 2.0 hicieron un rediseño de la interface lo cual ha cambiado su funcionalidad tambien.
